Production improvement with state-of-the-art servo feed

Stanztechnik Schulte GmbH, Altenkirchen/Ww. -  EV 122 TM4

INITIAL SITUATION AND PROBLEM

Stanztechnik Schulte GmbH manufactures special sheets for various industries such as the automotive, household appliance, telecommunications, abrasives and medical technology sectors: these include damping sheets, insert rings, baking trays or supports for flap wheels.

For some time now, the stamping line has not been able to meet the target of 350 strokes/min at a feed length of 55 mm and still achieves a maximum output of 250 strokes/min. The maintenance of the existing feeder is very time-consuming and the machines are constantly stopped. There is not always an employee available immediately who has the time to restart the machine. The supply of spare parts is also very difficult and expensive. In addition, it takes a long time to reposition the material in the right direction in relation to the tool. The old mechanical feed is forced by a shaft with a lot of play. According to Mr. Euteneuer, head of quality assurance at Stanztechnik Schulte, everyone is annoyed with the old feed.

SOLUTION

Zehnder & Sommer installed a completely new EV 122 TM servo roll feed system at Stanztechnik Schulte. A central strip guide was installed at the infeed, which makes it much easier for the employees to thread the material in the direction of the tool and to centre it.

An encoder was mounted on the press so that the feed is synchronised with the press. The pin of the force-driven shaft was already present anyway. Thus, the previous operation could be guaranteed again.

In addition, the latest safety components, such as the IS1 with enable switch, were of course taken into account in order to ensure a safe limited speed when the safety doors are open. In addition, the feed rate is freely programmable, so that switching to another product is very quick and convenient. These settings can then also be stored and thus quickly reproduced.

RESULT

Stanztechnik Schulte can finally produce without constant machine breakdowns and with the required 350 strokes/min. The feeder also has a reserve for a future increase - the tool currently in use, however, does not yet allow this. Everyone in production is grateful. Mr. Euteneuer is now angry that he did not make the investment earlier. The boss is of the opinion that he invested the money well.
